While it looks like denim, it is lighter woven in a different manner. Indeed it has a softer texture than denim fabric; and it is thinner in construction too. This fabric is perfect for spring and summer tops, jumpsuits, and dresses.

Chambray fabric is made in a higher thread count; so it is a finer weave & more breathable fabric.
It has a similar look to denim so you can get the look without feeling weighed down.
It does not wrinkle easily and it should be pressed with a hot iron
It can also be made stretchy if it is woven with spandex
